Energy Camp for Kids

ENERGY WORKSHOPS FOR TEENS & ADULTS (3-PART SERIES)!

Join us for these exciting Workshops where you will learn how to manage your energy through the concepts of Classical Chinese Medicine and other healing modalities such as the Chakra system and Native American traditions!  Participants are encouraged to sign up for all three workshops as the series builds on basic concepts.  Kate has been teaching clients in her Private Practice many of the techniques you will learn during these Workshops.

Medical Qigong Therapy is a form of Classical Chinese Medicine that was, basically, outlawed in China during the Cultural Revolution in the 1960s and 1970s.  Buddhist Monks were imprisoned or killed for practicing their "medicine" and the Dali Llama had to flee Tibet.  To save their ancient medicinal practices, the Chinese brought many of these tools to the West.  Kate feels very blessed that she can share these "ancient Chinese secrets" with our community because, in the old days, students had to study with a Master for, sometimes, twenty years before being taught what she will teach you in these workshops.  They are simple concepts to learn but very effective in knowing how to manage your energy body to maintain health and well-being.

Participants have the option of bringing their own lunch or buying a lunch onsite at the Wired Coffee Roasters coffee shop which provides wraps, salads, drinks and snacks.  Water bottles will be provided.  We will be both indoors and outdoors throughout the day, so please dress accordingly.  Sunscreen and bug spray might also be needed.  We will also be sitting in a circle on the ground (weather permitting) for opening and closing ceremony, so if you want a blanket, yoga mat, pillow or folding chair, please bring that as well.  Chairs and tables will be inside the room, as well.  For photos of the room and outdoor space, please see below.  Parking is also provided.  Please enter the Wellness Center around the building from the parking lot at the main door, and the small room is the first one down the hall on the right.

Participants will also receive drums and rattles to decorate and keep.  We will also be crafting simple pendulums with beads and receiving chakra crystals in the module on clearing chakras.  Pre-made medicine pouches will be given out to all participants to fill with their own sacred items.  (All craft supplies are included in the cost of the Workshop.)

Walk-ins are also welcome, if you are unsure of your availability, and will be charged $150 per Workshop at the door.  Participants are encouraged to register, however, since space is limited and supplies will also be provided.

Please contact Dr. Kate Kellman, DMQ, PhD (Doctor of Medical Qigong) at deepconnections24@gmail.com or at (518) 775-7798 by phone or text to register.  Linda Davin will also be helping to teach these Workshops and has been a student of Kate's for several years.  She is also a former Music Teacher at Saratoga schools.  (For full Bios, see the About page on this website--for Kate's Bio--and see below for Linda's Bio.  Linda is leading the Kids' Energy Camp and Kate will be leading the Teen & Adult Workshops.)

Thanks!  We look forward to helping all those who are guided to these offerings.  See you there?

Children will also make rattles to use in opening and closing sacred ceremonies.  (Kids Camp)

A Talking Stick is a Native American tradition to help children learn to take turns when speaking and listen to others. (Kids Camp)

There is plenty of parking.  Come up the ramp and enter around the front of the building.

Here is the main entrance to the Wellness Center. Enter through these doors and go down the hall on the right.

We will always smudge with sage at the start of the day in both the camp and the workshops to clean off our energy, learning about this ancient tool in the process.  If anyone would prefer being smudged with spray or crystals, please let us know.

Teens and adults will be provided with an 8" drum and will paint the frame and stick themselves for sacred ceremony.

There is also plenty of beautiful outdoor space where we will learn about sacred ceremony.

Teens & Adults will be learning how to fill their medicine pouches with special items to enhance their well-being and can take them home afterwards.

Energy Workshops for Teens & Adults

Teens and adults will be provided with a partially made rattle, painting the stick themselves for sacred ceremony.

This craft will be used to help children learn how to get rid of the "yuckies" in their own bodies when they are having a bad day. (Kids Camp)

Both kids and teens/adults will learn how to clear their energy using pendulums we'll make and crystals.

The Small Room at the Wellness Center is a newly renovated space where the Workshops will be held.

Kate and her co-teacher, Linda Davin, will be offering a week-long camp Monday, July 10th through Friday, July 14, 2023, from 9am to 3pm.  This will be a camp for kids who will be entering kindergarten in 2023 (around age 5) to kids entering fifth grade (around age 10).  Energy Camp will be held at the West Glenville Church, located at 2172 W. Glenville Road in Amsterdam, NY.

Kate and Linda recently became certified to teach a similar program which they have adapted to fit the needs of children in the Capital District region.  The camp involves crafts and activities that help kids understand the energy within themselves and how to work with it, the energy around us, and developing a respect for nature.  Some of the activities include making rattles and talking sticks (a method of communication), guided meditations, relaxation, and breathing techniques, self-esteem issues focusing on positivity and dealing with bullying, "Things I can do to fix a bad day," and moving from chaos to calm.

The Energy Camp is being offered to the Church family first (deadline to apply is April 8, 2023), but names are being taken for kids who would like to be put on the waiting list.  Space is limited, so please contact Linda Davin at lamucat@hotmail.com to register or be put on the waiting list.

Linda has a BM in music education (K-12) and a Masters with certification in Classroom Nursery-grade 6 and Special Education.  She taught Elementary General Music in Saratoga Springs City School District for 39 years.  She also created a music/common core program presented to K-2 students on a volunteer basis for 7 years.  Linda is currently teaching Preschool for 3- and 4-year-olds.

To keep Energy Camp affordable for all families, the weekly cost is only $280 for each camper.  If two or more children attend from the same family, cost is only $250 per camper.  We will also be splitting a scholarship with all Church campers who sign up as an extra bonus!  (All craft supplies are included in the cost of the Energy Camp.)  Please bring your own lunch.  Water bottles will be provided.

We will be indoors and outdoors throughout the day, so please have your children dress accordingly.  Sunscreen and bug spray might also be needed.  We will be sitting in a circle on the ground (weather permitting) for opening and closing ceremony, so if your child wants a blanket, yoga mat, or pillow, please bring that, as well.

Linda will be leading the Energy Camp for Kids and Kate will be co-teaching on the energy aspects.  We look forward to helping your children learn how to manage their energy and are excited to bring this offering to our community!
